This page highlights my extensive community and coordination experience in addition to my professional educator duties and responsibilities.


Alexander is a member of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) since 2007. He is a former organizer of the D.C.-based international film festival from 2008 to 2011.

  • Founder, DCAD board liaison, PR Director and event chairperson of the ongoing biannual international event, D.C. Deaf Film Festival (formerly DCAD ASL Film Festival and D.C. ASL Film Festival), from its inception in 2008 until 4th Festival in 2011.


Alexander is a member of the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) since 2006. Alexander also volunteers some of his time helping and serving other community organizations over the years (see below for some of the examples).

  • Served on the NAD Education Standing Committee,  November 2011 - June 2012
  • Served on the NAD Membership Steering Committee Charter, October 2011 - June 2012
  • Served as a DC delegate (state association representative of the District of Columbia) to the 2010 NAD Conference in Philadelphia, PA.
    1. appointed to and served on the Minutes Review Team reviewing the 2010 Council of Representatives Meeting Minutes.
  • Served as a DC delegate (state association representative of the District of Columbia) to the 2008 NAD Conference in New Orleans, LA.
  • Attended the 2006 NAD Conference in Palm Springs, CA under two capacities:
    1. as a Gallaudet GSA President (to help educate the public on the FSSA and the reasons for the Unity for Gallaudet protest movement); and
    2. as a Graduate School representative (to help explain the Gallaudet graduate school life and give advices to potential graduate students).


  • Served as a media specialist and committee member on the USA Deaf Sports Federation (USADSF) 2009 New Year's Eve Fundraising Gala Committee.
  • Ran the live fundraising event at the event on December 31, 2008.


Alexander is a member of the Board of Directors for the Deaf Community Services of San Diego, Inc. Alexander was a member of the District Columbia Association of the Deaf (DCAD) from 2007 to 2011. He also was a member of the Kendall Parent Teacher Association (KPTA) and the Clerc Center Community Advisory Committee (CAC) from 2009 and 2010, respectively, until 2011.

  • Currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors since 2011.

  • Served as the Vice President and a Board of Directors member of DCAD from 2007 to 2011.
  • Former director/team leader of the DCAD Public Relations team.
  • Former member of the Web Planning Committee.
  • Former co-coordinator and board laison member of the Event Planning Committee responsible for numerous community events (e.g., Wine & Cheese Tasting Event, All Hallow's Eve Costume Ball, State Conference, Community Workshops, and Town Hall meetings).

  • Served as a KDES/MSSD Teacher representative on the Clerc Center CAC from its inception in 2010 until 2011.
  • CAC is a standing committee that serves as a general advisory oversight body to the Clerc Center focusing on accreditation self-study process, NCLB implementation and other specific high-priority areas to meet the diverse needs of the Clerc Center community.
